Hi, I'm Sheila G Franz. I love having the freedom to do art! Most of my inspiration comes from our little slice of heaven-on-earth in Vermont that we call home... "Drift Ledge Farm".

I was captivated by the oil painting process in my teen years. Our school had the privilege of having a professional Vermont artist as our teacher. I was drawn to her painterly impressionistic style. However, I put art aside, earned degree in Physics from the University of Vermont and worked in the semiconductor and IT industry for 35 years as both an engineer and marketeer. I loved this path...I met so many nice/brilliant/creative people; we worked in a goal focused environment of teamwork and excellence! Now I’ve circled back to my first love -- art. I'm drawn to a variety of art techniques; my process starts with fundamentals, uses a crazy variety of tools to move paint around, and ends with pure intuition. Time stands still for me when I create! I welcome you on my art journey, please join my e-mail list and keep track of what I'm up to!

I've studied art with some of the best artists! First my awesome high school art teacher, Vermont artist Rita Boyd. Recently, my study includes drawing and painting classes with several well-known and classically trained Vermont Artists. Also, several years with award-winning artist Kelli Folsom and I completed the Dennis Perrin Academy. I am a life-long Vermonter. My sense of place is strong. I post some of my inspirational places here on our Drift Ledge Farm website.
